The Return of Jesus to Earth

Imagine your doorbell rings. Opening the door, you see a bearded man, lengthy hair, robe draped over his shoulders, sandals on his feet. He initiates a conversation: "Hello! I am Jesus. You may not have heard of me, but I was here about 2000 years ago and I have just now returned from a very long journey. May I come in?"

What's your reaction? Do you believe him? Invite him in for tea? Ask him to explain just exactly what he had written in the sand? Or do you think him to be an impostor -- call him a jerk? Threaten to call the police -- have him arrested for disturbing the peace? How can you be really sure of the truth?

"This same Jesus ... shall so come in like manner as you
have seen him go into heaven."    -- Acts 1:11

Does this refer to his physical body descending down from the skies? If so, only a few would see his return, and how many would believe such a report, even if on CNN?  On the other hand, who would ever recognize him if he appeared clean-shaven, wearing a three-piece suit, and carrying a briefcase?

Suppose the "manner" in which Jesus was seen to leave and would come again is a reference to the Christ ideal from which he lived -- not the body that he wore. Could he possibly appear as anything less than unconditional love? Would he be seen except as a brilliant light of wisdom and understanding? His presence shall emanate as a tranquil peace. He returns as the spirit of oneness, wholeness, goodness, mercy.

OK then, but where would this Christ Presence appear so I could see him? Where else, but within the temple. "Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?" (1 Cor. 3:16)

OK then, but how can I recognize this 'Christ Self'?  Well, if our eye's on the outer shell, we shall miss the return of the Master. And if our thought is responsive only to the personality, we shall never know that He has revisited the earth countless times. You shall not see him with your mind alone, but you must use your heart-intelligence to realize his return and to know his Presence.

Let us live in the awareness that Jesus, the Christ, returns again and again to those who know where to look. His character is alive in you -- in your heart -- and is ever the gift of love born within the humble manger of every heart. Have you seen his return yet? I wonder just how many doorbells we have answered, never recognizing He has come again!  I wonder!
